Joe is the owner of Stone Oak Scuba and has been instructing since 1981. He first learned to dive while serving in the U.S. Navy. He spent 2 years living on the island of Catalina operating a commercial dive service and conducting scuba tours of the island. Now, he ranks as a Master Instructor and spends his time managing the shop and teaching.
Driven by his fascination of the underwater world, John earned his PADI open water scuba certification in 2014. After a few years of diving he realized he wanted the opportunity to share the fun of diving with others, quickly becoming a Divemaster and then Instructor in 2018. He looks forward to getting to know other divers and growing the dive community!
Katie, the daughter of Joe and co-owner of Stone Oak Scuba has been diving since 2012. She has advanced through the ranks, certifying hundreds of students and is now a Master Instructor. Her patience and understanding extends from her passion for teaching and she enjoys seeing her students overcome their fears.
Amber is the most recent addition to the Instructor family here at Stone Oak Scuba. She was certified as a NAUI Open Water diver in 2012 and driven by her thirst for learning and adventure, became a Scientific Diver with Global Underwater Explorers in 2016. Her favorite aspect of teaching is helping students overcome personal challenges so that they too can explore and enjoy the underwater realm.
Originally from Florida, David was certified in 1986. He continued his training while stationed in Panama and reached NAUI Master Scuba Diver. Currently an Instructor, David has been with Stone Oak Scuba since 2015.
He has been diving extensively in Florida, Mexico, Panama and around the Caribbean. He believes that there is a diver in us all waiting to take that first breath underwater.
Travis started diving in 2015 just out of curiosity on what scuba was about, once in the water it became very addicting. After he started diving he realized how relaxing and how it helps him with his PTSD. He thrives on learning more and progressing through the scuba world, will a goal of becoming an instructor; But your scuba learning doesn’t end after class. It never ends you learn more and more every time you dive! So get out and dive with us you’ll enjoy it!
Panda is the shop dog and doorbell here at Stone Oak Scuba! She's the adorable, cuddly little monster with a fierce bark! Most days she just chills in the back with Joe and comes out to greet the customers when they walk through the door.
